NASA Nuclear Engineer Found DEAD In Burned Tesla

A NASA nuclear scientist working on classified space propulsion projects vanished from his Alabama home before dying in a fiery Tesla crash that left his family fearing abduction. Joshua LeBlanc, 29, failed to show up for work and left behind his phone and wallet—raising immediate red flags.

Suspicious Disappearance And Death

Joshua LeBlanc disappeared from his Huntsville home at 4:32 a.m. on July 22, 2025. His family reported him missing that morning after he uncharacteristically failed to report to his job at NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center. LeBlanc was an aerospace technologies electrical engineer working on nuclear propulsion projects for Mars missions and deep space exploration. At 2:45 p.m. that same day, authorities discovered his Tesla burned beyond recognition after colliding with a guardrail and multiple trees before bursting into flames.

Police used Tesla Sentry Mode data to track LeBlanc’s movements, discovering his vehicle sat at Huntsville Airport for four hours the morning of his death. His family said the western trip was not part of his plans and that his failure to communicate was completely out of character. Three days later, forensic scientists confirmed his identity after his body was transported to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences, burned beyond recognition.

Part Of Larger Pattern

LeBlanc’s death comes amid growing concern about a pattern of mysterious deaths among American scientists. At least 12 other people—the vast majority involved in nuclear science and space research—have died or gone missing since 2022 under suspicious circumstances. House Oversight Chair James Comer called the pattern concerning and potentially related to national security threats. Former FBI agent Nicole Parker noted unusual details including missing cell phones and wiped data in multiple cases.

Critical NASA Projects At Risk

LeBlanc served as team lead for NASA’s Space Nuclear Propulsion Instrumentation and Control Maturation program, technology designed to enable faster crew and cargo missions to Mars. He later led development on NASA’s Demonstration Rocket for Agile Cislunar Operation, a nuclear thermal propulsion engine. The FBI confirmed it is spearheading efforts to investigate connections between the missing and deceased scientists, working alongside the Department of Energy and Department of War. President Trump told reporters he hopes the deaths are random but expressed concern after leaving a classified briefing on the subject.
