Why American Elections REMAIN Trusted Worldwide

American elections have reached unprecedented levels of security and accessibility, according to a nonpartisan election expert, despite ongoing political rhetoric from both parties about voter fraud and suppression.

Paper Ballots and Auditing Lead Security Improvements

David Becker, founder of the Center for Election Innovation & Research and former Department of Justice attorney, reports that over 95 percent of voters will cast paper ballots in 2024. These ballots represent best practices in election security because they can be audited, recounted, and verified by voters themselves. States now conduct more hand-count audits than ever before to confirm machine accuracy, while improved technology and data sharing between states have created the most accurate voter registration lists in American history.

Both pre-election and post-election litigation have increased, establishing clear rules and confirming results with greater certainty. The 2020 election faced dozens of legal challenges, yet courts found no evidence of problems that would affect outcomes. This extensive legal scrutiny, while contentious, has actually strengthened confidence in the verification process for election results across the country.

Expanded Access for American Voters

Voter access has expanded dramatically alongside security improvements. Ninety-seven percent of Americans can now vote early, with only Alabama, Mississippi, and New Hampshire lacking early voting options. Thirty-six states plus the District of Columbia allow mail-in voting without requiring an excuse. Despite concerns about long lines, data shows nearly all voters wait less than 30 minutes to cast their ballots during election periods.

Political Rhetoric Versus Electoral Reality

The disconnect between election security reality and political messaging has grown during recent election cycles. Former President Donald Trump continues warning about undocumented immigrants voting illegally, while Democrats characterize Republican voting law changes as suppression efforts. Becker notes that voter confidence patterns changed significantly during the Trump era, departing from historical trends where losing party supporters showed temporarily lower confidence that recovered after elections. The current environment features persistent claims about election integrity despite extensive evidence supporting the security and accuracy of American voting systems, creating challenges for election administrators and civic education efforts nationwide.

  1. WE HAVE ALL SEEN REPEATED RECOUNTS OVER AND OVER UNTIL THE ELECTION IS FLIPPED…TRUCK LOADS OF FAKE VOTES..ON AND ON

  2. Let’s have voter ID to eliminate any ballot harvesting. Mail in balloting. Yes, voting is a Right but with every right is a responsibility i.e. get a I.D. Voter suppression is nonsense.
