Democrats have no interest in lifting the controlling COVID-19 mandates and restrictions that are becoming increasingly less popular. People don’t like having their lives controlled by the government, no matter how much the government claims that this control is necessary for health and safety.
Last month, President Biden stood before the nation and beseeched Republican governors to reinstate COVID-19 mask mandates and other restrictions. This plea comes on top of the Biden administration working on a vaccine passport program.
Not only will GOP governors not be adhering to Biden’s calls to stop reopening and reimplement mask mandates, but multiple Republican governors have also vowed to ban vaccine passports in their states.
Democrats are still fighting tooth and nail to keep restrictions in place. However, on Wednesday, the Wisconsin Supreme Court overrode Democrat Governor Tony Evers on the statewide mask mandate, Breitbart News confirms.
A Closer Look at the Wisconsin Supreme Court’s Decision
On March 31, the Wisconsin Supreme Court determined that Governor Tony Evers acted unlawfully when he enacted emergency health orders extending past 60 days.
Under Wisconsin state law, the governor is required to get approval from the state legislature on any extensions after 60 days. Governor Evers did not do this; therefore, his extension of the statewide mask mandate is illegitimate.
The Wisconsin Supreme Court striking down mask mandates doesnt mean that you cant personally choose to continue to wear a mask and a face shield while sitting alone in your car after posting a picture of yourself getting the vaccine, Karen.

In Wisconsin, the state legislature is controlled by Republican officials. This is why Governor Evers chose to bypass the body and simply pass emergency health orders by his own volition. Thankfully, however, the Wisconsin Supreme Court served as a necessary checks-and-balances.
From this point forward, Governor Evers is under the obligation to obtain state legislature approval before issuing emergency health orders that extend beyond a 60-day period.
Moving Away from Mask Mandates
On Wednesday, conservatives celebrated the ruling of the Wisconsin Supreme Court. Many Americans are ready to move away from mask mandates, especially as more folks are vaccinated against COVID-19.
From conservative justice Hagedorn's majority opinion: "But when later relying on the same enabling condition, the governor is subject to the time limits explicitly prescribed by statute."
State law says emergency declarations only last 60 days, unless extended by Legislature.

Conservatives also pointed out that Wisconsinites (and others, for that matter) can wear masks, even in spite of the ruling. The lack of a compulsory mask order does not bar individuals from willingly wearing masks of their own volition.
