Trump Vows to Shield Americans from Coronavirus

The coronavirus continues to dominate headlines and impact the lives of various individuals around the world.

As of late, coronavirus has served as a subject of concern for many Americans; after all, there are countless reports of people falling sick after having contact with certain travelers or others who may have contracted coronavirus at one point or another. This virus has also prompted the cancellation of popular events, the shutdown of entire school districts, and much more.

Yesterday evening, President Trump formally addressed the nation and detailed his strategies for shielding Americans against coronavirus, as reported by Breitbart News.

According to the 45th president, a significant part of his plan entails a temporary halt on travel to and from the European Union, for the next month, starting on 12:00 AM, Friday, March 13, 2020.

Reviewing Trump’s Address to the Nation

Trump spoke to the country from the Oval Office last night to get all Americans on the same page about coronavirus and the combative measures being employed against it.

The president pointed out not only the aforementioned, temporary European Union travel ban, but also the union’s failure to act against coronavirus. Had the union made moves to limit travel from China and other areas with high coronavirus rates, the spread of the disease would be much less prevalent.

Shortly thereafter, Trump covered a key point of his travel ban, stating that certain exceptions will apply for screened and cleared persons leaving the United Kingdom and Europe. The president ultimately pointed out that his measures will “significantly reduce” and ultimately “defeat” coronavirus.

Towards the end of his address, Trump also noted the role that good hygiene (such as hand-washing, cleaning dirty surfaces, staying home when unwell, etc.) can play in overcoming coronavirus.

Reactions to Trump’s Coronavirus Address

Despite the president’s actions to shield Americans from coronavirus, there are still concerted efforts to politicize the disease.

Following the aforementioned address, many on the left seized the opportunity to brand the travel ban as inhumane. Ironically, this analysis comes from the same people who would also complain if the president didn’t take direct action to halt the spread of coronavirus.
