On Wednesday, President Trump openly spoke about the “insurance policy” which FBI officials claimed to have on him in the event that he won the 2016 election.
The president also noted that if the same insurance policy were existent during the times in which Obama ran for office, it would be declared and treated as treason, reports The Daily Caller News Foundation.
The Treason within the Insurance Policy
Treason is defined as “the crime of betraying one’s country, especially by attempting to kill the sovereign or overthrow the government.”
By definition, this fits the category of what former FBI agents Peter Strzok, Lisa Page, and other participants did when they declared that an insurance policy existed in the event that Trump won the 2016 presidential election. Many people never expected the president to win and furthermore, they didn’t think he could win. Various individuals who opposed Trump believed that Hillary Clinton would come out on top and it rocked their world when she was beaten.
The Failure of the Insurance Policy
It appears as though the Russia investigation was the insurance policy which Strzok and Page had in mind. Of course, as we all know, it turned out to be a bust. Mueller’s investigation is over and despite it lagging on for nearly two years, Trump has not been found guilty of colluding with the Russian government.
There will be no more indictments. The party is over; the insurance policy failed and Donald Trump is still the president of the United States.
Double Standards and Partisanship
The president shared the following remarks regarding the double standard and what would happen had Obama been subjected to the same treatment from Republicans.
In Trump’s own words:
“They wanted to do a subversion. It was treason. It was really treason. If the Republican Party had done this to the Democrats, if we had done this to President Obama, you’d have 100 people in jail right now and it would be treason. It would be considered treason and they’d be in jail for the rest of their lives.”
President Trump is absolutely right…but then again, we are all familiar with the double standards which relate to partisanship. Democrats somehow figure out how to get away with misdeeds that would land Republicans in prison.
