Matters continue to get worse for Michael Avenatti, the attorney who gained fame as the counsel of Stormy Daniels against President Trump.
Avenatti is presently facing accusations of several major crimes; furthermore, the California State Bar is now moving to terminate his law license, as documented by Fox News.
Everything You Need to Know
Avenatti allegedly attempted to extort Nike and embezzled money from his clients (including Stormy Daniels). These are serious white-collar crimes, as you might imagine…and the charges against Avenatti reflect this.
The aforementioned charges include one count of extortion, one count of “sending interstate communications with intent to extort,” and additional counts of aggravated identity theft, wire fraud, and finally two counts of conspiracy. In the event that Avenatti is found guilty of all counts, he will spend the rest of his life behind bars.
Of course, none of the legal issues which Avenatti is up against look very good for him. In fact, they look so terrible that the California State Bar recently declared that the legal evidence against Avenatti is “clear and convincing.”
As such, they posted the following public statement on their website:
“The State Bar of California has filed a petition to enroll this licensee on interim inactive status, alleging that the licensee’s conduct poses a substantial threat of harm to clients or the public. The petition involves a charge that the licensee engaged in a major misappropriation of client funds.”

Shorty thereafter, Avenatti denounced the move of the state bar as a “pile-on” and moreover declared his anticipation of being “fully exonerated by the facts.”
Where Avenatti Went Wrong
During his time in the spotlight and in the favor of the mainstream media, Avenatti spent a lot of time attacking people. He went after Michael Cohen, the Trump family, and others, especially on the right wing. However, in light of the charges which Avenatti is facing, it looks like his time would have been better spent focusing on himself and not stealing money from his clients.
