Seven-year-old Benton Stevens has faced a shocking amount of ill-treatment from adults following his decision to fundraise for President Trump’s promised border wall, according to The Daily Caller News Foundation.

A Closer Look at the Fundraiser for the Border Wall

Benton felt inspired to raise money for President Trump’s border wall after watching the State of the Union address. In order to do this, Benton, with the help of his parents, put together a hot chocolate station at a strip mall close to where he lives. The hot chocolate at Benton’s stand sells for $2.00 per cup and customized drinks are available for an additional 50 cents. Benton has also done quite well for himself; his hot chocolate stand reportedly raised $1,400 in only two days.

Jennifer Stevens, Benton’s mother, spoke about the importance and value as her son’s work:

“I think it’s important that [our children] know what’s going on in the world, where we stand, what we believe in. Every day he would get off the bus and say, ‘mom can we go do my stand.'”

Both of Benton’s parents are members of the Republican National Committee. The seven-year-old also provided information about the reception which his stand received:

“Some people were mad and calling me a ‘little Hitler’ and stuff, and some people were really happy.”

Thankfully, Benton is not letting criticism stop him from supporting the border wall. He hopes to mail the money to the president so that illegal immigrants are not able to unlawfully enter America.

Responses to Benton’s Fundraiser

The support which Benton has received is amazing. It’s also great that he has the support of his parents and the people in his community. Of course, it’s also disappointing to hear that adults would refer to a small child as a “little Hitler” simply because of his support for legal immigration. Thankfully, Benton is standing strong and he’s got some great adults in his corner.
