For over one week now, Texas snowstorms and the subsequent fallout have dominated national headlines. Many people have noted the extreme impacts that the Lone Star State is going through, in addition to the lengthy recovery process that will follow.
Leadership is important right now. While Texas Governor Greg Abbott, the Texas National Guard, and other leaders in the state are doing all they can, the recent silence of President Joe Biden is deafening. The snowstorms in the Lone Star State have maintained for over one week; however, Biden only reached out to Texas and began to publicly address the situation days ago.
On the evening of Friday the 19th, Biden finally approved a major disaster declaration for the Lone Star State, confirms Breitbart News.
What to Know About the Texas Major Disaster Declaration
Biden’s approved disaster declaration for Texas means several things. For starters, Lone Star State communities that are adversely affected by these snowstorms will now have the support of federal funds. These funds shall cover home repair and housing grants, along with loans for property losses that lack insurance.

The snowstorms have claimed several Texans’ lives. Furthermore, many of the state’s residents are without basic utilities, due to the destroyed water pipes, shattered power grids, and freezing temperatures.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is also in Texas and working to provide relief to the communities in need of it. Thus far, FEMA has supplied the Lone Star State with water, 60 generators, food, and warm blankets.
The White House on the Texas Disaster
Conservatives are not pleased with Biden’s delayed response to the ongoing crises in Texas. The lackluster reaction is additionally facing comparisons to what Trump’s response would entail if he’d won a second term.
However, the White House is hard at work to assure Americans that Biden is paying attention. Last week, the White House professed that the Democrat president continues to monitor the situations in Texas. Biden did speak with Governor Abbott last week; however, the phone call arrived days and days after the snowstorms began.
The State is working around the clock to address four immediate winter weather priorities:
