Arguments about the ineffectiveness of mask mandates and lockdowns continue to strengthen. Michigan, a left-wing state, has lived under plenty of shutdowns and mandates; however, this has not stopped them from leading the United States in coronavirus infections and hospitalizations.
Days ago, the CDC declared that Michigan needs to shut everything down and return to “ground zero,” in light of their COVID-19 numbers. Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer has asked the Biden White House for more coronavirus vaccines; however, the White House said no.
The CDC’s calls for a return to lockdowns in Michigan arrive as Whitmer herself openly talks about another half-year of statewide shutdowns. However, the Michigan Republican Party is now openly resisting these calls, as Newsmax reports.
The Michigan GOP vs. the CDC
Republicans in Michigan denounced the CDC’s claims that the best option for the state is to lock down again. GOP Rep. Bill Huizenga said to Fox News that greater “vaccine allocation” for their state is more appropriate than shutting down.

Other Michigan GOP officials slammed “CDC bureaucrats” for advocating for more lockdowns. Republicans in the heavily blue state explained that the CDC is out of touch and doesn’t know what it is to lose a business after decades of hard work or rely on the state for jobless benefits.
Michigan Democrats, on the other hand, applauded calls to shut down their state yet again. Like the CDC, Democrats in the blue state believe that more vaccines will not provide the solution to new surges in an appropriate timeframe.
Additional Problems Surrounding the CDC
Michigan Republicans’ pushback against the CDC arrives as the organization is already facing issues of its own.
On Tuesday, the CDC joined the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in calling to pause the distribution and administering of the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine.
ALARMING RISE: As U.S. COVID-19 cases now rival last summer’s surge, @EvaPilgrim reports as the CDC director says hard-hit Michigan should shut down to slow the spread, and that increasing vaccine supply is not the immediate solution for the state. https://t.co/0sAHW96twL pic.twitter.com/yxIghKzxgJ

This happens after multiple women who received the injection suffered dangerous blood clots; at least one person who underwent blood clots from the Johnson & Johnson coronavirus vaccine subsequently passed away. Therefore, this situation has only ignited debates about mandating the COVID-19 immunization and vaccine passports in America.
In light of the strong leftist control of Michigan, many conservatives in the state are moving out if they have the means to do so.
