Impeachment proceedings and the entire Ukraine controversy center around the notion that President Trump engaged in wrongdoing when speaking with Ukraine leader Volodymyr Zelensky in July.
At this time, Democrats are accusing Trump of engaging in a quid-pro-quo, despite the lack of supporting evidence and denials from both Trump and Zelensky. Nevertheless, Democrats continue to push this false narrative as their desperation to impeach the president surges with each passing second.
On Sunday, GOP Texas Sen. Ted Cruz appeared on NBC News and spoke with Chuck Todd. During this time, Cruz challenged Todd on the partisan talking point that claims Trump “played into the hands of Russia,” as documented by Townhall.
What You Need to Know About Cruz vs. Todd
First, Cruz responded to Todd’s agenda-driven question about the president supposedly being played by Russia when he noted the importance of “substance.”
Per the Texas senator’s own words, the policies of the Trump administration are more austere against Russia, especially in comparison to the Obama administration’s policies. Furthermore, Cruz made sure to note that Trump has provided the necessary aid to Ukraine, something which helps the nation defend against tanks and other attacks from Russia.
Finally, Cruz schooled Todd by explaining that Democrats have not an iota of evidence which points to wrongdoing on the end of President Trump. The senator branded Democrats’ “scholarly report” as “nonsense,” noting that the 55-page report claims impeachment is possible, even without proving that the president breached laws or committed crimes.
The Final Verdict
Ultimately, Cruz’s interview with the NBC host simply sheds new light on the flimsy narrative which the left continues to perpetuate. After all, these impeachment proceedings are about rewriting the results of the 2016 presidential election, not about Democrats’ genuine interest in preserving the Constitution.
Let’s not forget, the left has been talking about impeachment since Trump defeated Clinton. They’ve also made numerous attempts to get the president out of office, starting with the bogus claim that he colluded with Russia.
When that narrative failed, they claimed that Trump obstructed justice during the Mueller probe. Like its predecessor, the obstruction of justice narrative didn’t work, so now the new talking point has shifted to “Ukraine!”
