Substitute Teacher Showed Porn To Middle Schoolers

Dearborn, Michigan’s O.L. Smith Middle School is currently facing a scandal after a classroom of their students was exposed to pornography, reports The Daily Caller News Foundation.

What Happened?

The substitute teacher who exposed the children to the pornographic content is not being named. However, the teacher cited the March 13th incident as an accident; apparently, the intended footage to be displayed to students was a video regarding the Lewis and Clark expedition. However, pornography was displayed instead and lasted for 30 seconds before the substitute teacher managed to shut it off.

Zeina Jebril, the principle of O.L. Smith Middle School informed parents via letter about what transpired.

“This event was a very unfortunate and rare occurrence. Our district has a very powerful and proven filtering software to prevent this type of event from happening. Each day thousands of students log on to the internet throughout the district without incident.”

At this time, the unfortunate incident is being described as a “glitch.” However, the substitute teacher in question will no longer be permitted to teach at O.L. Smith Middle School. This decision is largely due to the fact that the school is unable to ascertain where the pornography came from or how such a “glitch” occurred when students were supposed to review footage about the Lewis and Clark expedition.

The Lesson to be Learned

At the end of the day, it’s very important to screen what middle school students are exposed to. This is particularly critical in a learning environment where the focus revolves around the education and growth of young minds.

In order to accomplish this aim, vetting anyone who will be teaching young people, rather regular or substitute is also very imperative. While the incident may not have been intentional, it’s still odd that nobody knows where the pornography came from.
