As the media continues to profess Joe Biden as the next president of the United States, this has led to the former vice president moving forward with selecting transition team members and a COVID-19 task force.
A member of the Biden COVID-19 task force has already stated that America should lock down from anywhere to one month to six weeks. Polling has shown that the majority of Americans are less likely to adhere to stay-at-home orders than they were in the spring of 2020.
Meanwhile, the World Health Organization came out weeks ago, stating that lockdowns should no longer be employed as the go-to means of stopping this virus. Following the talk of a weeks-long Biden lockdown, Republicans have come out against it.

Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves (R) recently confirmed that his state would not comply with a Biden lockdown. The Mississippi GOP governor also affirmed that the state is prepared to push back legally if Biden were to get into office and attempt to force Mississippi to shutter.
Now, South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem, another Republican, is joining Reeves in saying no to a Biden lockdown, as Breitbart News confirms.

South Dakota on a Biden Lockdown

Via her communications specialist, Governor Noem issued a clear and concise message about how South Dakota would respond to Biden seeking a national lockdown.
Similarly to Reeves, Noem declared that the Democrat presidential candidate would lack the authority to institute a nationwide mask mandate or nationwide shutdown, even as president; likewise, the South Dakota governor reiterated that she would not enforce either order from Biden in her state.

The former vice president has previously admitted that should he win the presidency, he’d call up governors to push for mask mandates in every state.
Both Governors Noem and Reeves are within a growing list of Republican governors who are saying they won’t stand for what Biden is talking about; thus far, however, Biden has not arrived in the Oval Office as president.

A Growing Unpopularity Towards Shutdowns

Polling and data of Americans continues to show the surging unpopularity of lockdowns. As folks struggle to get back to work and normality, the last thing they want to hear is talk about lockdowns. Mental health, livelihoods, economic stability, relationships, and so much more has suffered because of shutdowns.

Throughout the 2020 presidential election, Biden has taken heat for going back and forth on talk about a national lockdown. The former vice president once admitted that he’d lack the constitutional authority to lock down a country as president; however, he then went back and forth on whether or not he’d push for a shutdown anyway.
