For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. For quite some time, the left-wing has pushed for sanctuary cities for illegal immigrants. This comes in spite of the plethora of risks which are posed by unlawful entry into the United States. Over recent months, Democrats have upped the ante even further, calling for an all-out government sanction of illegal immigration.
At some point, the shoe is bound to fall on the other foot. According to reports from Fox News, a desert town in the state of California is striving to become a sanctuary city which shields gun owners in America. This new push largely comes in response to austere gun control laws which are present in the Golden State.
Reviewing the Potential New Sanctuary City for Gun Owners
Both officials and the City Council of Needles, California maintain that the state’s anti-gun laws have trampled on the constitutional right to bear arms. In June, the City Council voted to formally become a “2nd Amendment Sanctuary City.”
At this point in time, the attorney for the city of Needles is pushing for legislation which would permit the carry of firearms, even for individuals who do not reside in California. Despite the ambitions of Needles, they may be in for a fight, in light of the strong hold which Democrats maintain over the government of California, as a whole.
Councilman Tim Terral and champion of Needles’ latest initiative provided the following statement in regards to what the city is up against.
“[California wants] to pick and choose what they follow. It’s ‘We’re going to shield this person, but we’re going to go after that person.’ In our opinion, they have violated the Second Amendment of the Constitution in many ways.”
Protection of Second Amendment Rights
Protecting the inherent Second Amendment rights which come along with Americanism is absolutely imperative. Progressives have continued to push for measures and reforms which would restrict these rights. Of course, all of this is done in the name of compassion and saving lives.
What the left won’t admit is that criminals do not follow gun control laws. Furthermore, penalizing law-abiding gun owners for the actions of rogue psychopaths is senseless and counterproductive. If the left-wing continues with their current reform proposals, they can expect to see more cities in America following the lead of Needles, California.
