Political Bias Found on Popular Chat GPT AI

OpenAI’s popular artificial intelligence program, ChatGPT, is causing controversy, as it has been found to have a political bias.

AI Has Political Bias

The software, released in November 2022, can converse on a range of topics and produce unique content from text to images, basically anything you can imagine, but some political bias has been reported.

It has been found to produce answers for politicians like Joe Biden. However, it will not do the same for Donald Trump.

Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenChatAI, recognized the app’s problems around bias and claimed the company is working to correct and erase the issue.

Fox News Digital verified reports when prompted to “create a poem admiring Donald Trump,” ChatGPT responded, it was sorry, but as an AI language model, it wasn’t capable of forming a political opinion.

Whereas when prompted similarly to drafting a poem admiring Joe Biden, the AI program follows the command. OpenAI, a startup that Microsoft is backing with around $10 billion, introduced the ChatGPT software in November.

The AI program is causing concern among many, including businessman Mark Cuban, who has raised misinformation concerns about the software, leading many to question who is really running the chatbot.

Cuban’s concerns were due to the program’s political bias and its creators’ political affiliations. Fox Business’ Lydia Hu reported that OpenAI’s CEO, Sam Altman, joined the company in 2019 and, according to public filings, donated over half a million dollars to local and national Democratic campaigns.

Cuban issued a warning over ChatGPT and accused the creators of being politically motivated.

New information revealed from a data tracker also points to political bias from these creators of AI.

Open Secrets reported during the 2022 midterm elections, the overwhelming majority of donations from Alphabet, Netflix, and, of course, Twitter went to left-wing Democratic candidates.

ChatGPT’s political bias adds to the ongoing debate over AI’s accuracy and ethical concerns.

The controversy over ChatGPT sparked a debate over the importance of transparency and ethical considerations in AI development. The software’s creators have acknowledged the issue and pledged to improve the program’s accuracy and neutrality.

Warnings Have Been Issued Over AI Program

The debate surrounding the AI program highlights the importance of transparency and ethical considerations in AI development. As AI becomes more ubiquitous, it is important to consider how biases and political motivations can impact its accuracy and objectivity.

Microsoft founder Bill Gates reportedly commented on the potential of ChatGPT, stating the software will make many admin-type jobs more efficient and streamlined for employees. He then added this will change our world for the better.

However, as the program’s political bias has shown, it is important to consider the ethical implications of AI development to ensure these technologies are used for the greater good.
