The Democrat Party continues to embarrass themselves with various attempts to impeach President Trump. For the longest time, Democrats alleged that the Russia investigation would serve as all the ammunition they need to impeach; then, after the results of this investigation proved to be a giant nothing-burger, Democrats changed their tune and alleged that the president obstructed justice during the probe. This, too, turned out to be false.
The Backstory
On Tuesday evening, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced that the House of Representatives will move forward with an impeachment inquiry into President Trump. Fox News reports that Pelosi’s announcement came after allegations surrounding the president’s conversation with Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky. Apparently, the House Speaker believes Trump breached U.S. law due to allegations made by a whistleblower.
The whistleblower in question has alleged that Trump pushed Zelensky to investigate Joe Biden and his son, Hunter Biden. The president denies these claims and moreover, reports have surfaced which indicate that this whistleblower didn’t even get a first-hand account of Trump’s conversation with his Ukrainian counterpart.
The Announcement
Progressives and other rabid left-wingers are absolutely eating up Pelosi’s announcement of the formal impeachment inquiry against the president. During her remarks, the House Speaker accused Trump of violating the Constitution and stated that he must be “held accountable.” The timing of this announcement comes as multiple House Democrats have urged Pelosi to move forward with impeachment.

The Reality
The House can investigate, litigate, and conduct impeachment inquiries until they turn blue in the face, but the facts remain. Impeachment is not a decision which Pelosi can unilaterally make; furthermore, impeachment would require votes from both the House and the Senate. The Senate is not going to vote to impeach the president; everyone knows this, just as we know the impeachment inquiry is rooted in untrue allegations.
Republican House leaders did, however, respond to Pelosi’s announcement with some statements of their own:
What’s happening here is nothing short of political theater. Nancy Pelosi knows as well as any leader that an impeachment inquiry and even support for impeachment in the House goes nowhere without the Senate. Democrats may be cheering now, but they’re going to be in for a rude awakening when reality strikes.
Since the announcement of the impeachment inquiry, “#Trump2020LandslideVictory” began trending on Twitter; the president also took time to weigh in with some thoughts of his own.
