Whenever something as horrific as a mass shooting happens in America, it never takes long for Democrats to use the occurrence to score some cheap, political capital.
It’s unfortunate, but the left-wing doesn’t even wait until the bodies are cold or until details are released before they start calling for gun control and, of course, demonizing Republicans and innocent members of the NRA with no connection to any mass shootings. 2020 Democrat Beto O’Rourke happens to be one of the latest, leftist fools to follow this sick, yet established pattern of his party.
O’Rourke immediately rushed to judgment on the shooting, branding the events in Texas as indicative of necessary gun buybacks and universal background checks. He spoke in front of an audience and shared the video on social media with a rather vulgar caption. Since the 2020 candidate’s outburst, details about the latest shootings in Texas have come to light, thanks to Fox News.
Everything You Need to Know about the Saturday Texas Shootings
First and foremost, multiple shootings took place in the Odessa and Midland areas of Texas. Thus far, five individuals have died, while 24 others sustained serious injuries; three of the shot 24 people include members of law enforcement. The suspect of the shootings was killed in an Odessa-based movie theater during a shoot-out with police.
Following the horrific events, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) issued the following public statement:
“Prior to the vehicle coming to a complete stop, the male driver (and only occupant in the vehicle) pointed a rifle toward the rear window of his car and fired several shots toward the DPS patrol unit. The patrol unit was occupied by two Troopers, and one was hit by the gunfire.”
The department furthermore noted that the shooter later traveled throughout Odessa and shot individuals at will in various locations, including the movie theater where he met his ultimate demise.
O’Rourke’s Terrible Take
Of course, none of the aforementioned details are of any relevance of Democrats who only care about pointing the finger and pushing an agenda. This is precisely why O’Rourke immediately rushed to promote his gun control agenda, while even admitting that he didn’t yet have a clue on what happened.

At this point, everyone is aware of Democrats’ desperation to ram more gun control through government, but for the sake of optics, members of their party would be much better off waiting until details break before calling for more gun control. The left-wing knows that criminals don’t follow gun control laws; although, calling for the legislation anyway allows progressives to create the illusion of moral superiority whilst pointing the finger at conservatives.
