In recent months, multiple 2020 candidates chose to end their campaigns after coming to the realization that they simply wouldn’t make it through the finish line. Earlier this week, former HUD Secretary Julian Castro joined the list, officially announcing the end of his bid for the Oval Office.
However, a lack of political standing and support is not always enough to make a candidate call it quits. Self-help author and 2020 Democrat Marianne Williamson is a prime example of this. Breitbart News reports that despite Williamson’s recent decision to lay off 100% of her campaign staffers (amongst other things), she’s still remaining in the race.

The self-help author has run one of the most unsuccessful presidential campaigns that this nation has ever seen. Aside from now having no staffers working for her, Williamson hasn’t been on a debate stage in months. It’s quite safe to say most folks have forgotten that she’s even running for office.
Why Williamson Won’t End Her Campaign
In light of how terribly the 2020 candidate’s campaign is coming along, many folks have naturally assumed that she’ll soon be ending it. Although, according to Williamson, this simply isn’t accurate.
The self-help author took to Twitter in order to brand reports of her 2020 campaign’s demise as “drastically exaggerated.” In a link to an official statement on her website, Williamson moreover explained that her candidacy is designed to “tell the heart’s truth,” a feat which she claims doesn’t cost money.
As Williamson goes on to “tell the heart’s truth,” she also admits to being bogged down with “accumulating campaign debt.” Still, the 2020 candidate stated that for as long as she has “a connection with voters,” she won’t end her candidacy for president of the United States.
A Lack of Good Judgment
At this point in the 2020 presidential election, Williamson can’t possibly believe that she’s got a snowball’s chance of winning her party’s nomination. Of all the candidates running, she’s taken the least seriously and polling below 1% at a national level.

In light of the utter failure of Williamson’s campaign and her admission to generating considerable amounts of campaign debt, it begs to question why she’s still a candidate. Other 2020 Democrats who were in a better position than her ended their candidacies when they finally came to the reality that they’d never be nominated by their party or elected into the White House.
If Williamson had such a strong “connecting with voters,” she’d have enough support to make it on debate stages, keep her campaign out of debt, and poll higher than she currently is. The refusal to face facts speaks not only to her poor judgment, but also a poor grasp on reality.
