Liz Cheney on Vote Against Anti-Hate Resolution: ‘Clearly An Effort To Actually Protect Omar’

Over the past weekend, GOP Rep. Liz Cheney asserted that Democrats are working to protect Ilhan Omar’s anti-Semitism via an anti-hate resolution, reports The Daily Caller News Foundation.

Cheney’s assertion comes after Omar’s longtime pattern of making anti-Semitic commentary about Jewish people and Israel. Subsequently, the Democrats have issued lackluster criticisms at best and even outright defended Omar on certain occasions.

Everything You Need to Know

In essence, Cheney stated that if Democrats were serious about penalizing Omar for anti-Semitic remarks, she would be removed from the committee which she currently serves upon. Furthermore, the GOP representative noted that Democrats are facing very real issues within their party and have merely resorted to using the anti-hate resolution as a prop to feign moral outrage while still shielding Omar from behind the scenes.

In Cheney’s own words:

“It was really clearly an effort to actually protect Ilhan Omar, to cover up her bigotry and anti-Semitism by refusing to name her. The Democrats have yet to take any action to remove her from her committee. And they’ve got a real problem.”

Cheney then went on to assert that anti-Semitism is running rampant within the Democrat Party:

“I mean the extent to which they are now abiding by anti-Semitism, enabling anti-Semitism in their party is something we watch them struggle with, but something that’s very dangerous for the country. So, I’m hopeful they will be able to stand up and do the right thing on this.”

The Merit of Cheney’s Argument

Democrats may dislike what Cheney has to say, but to dismiss her would be foolish. The fact of the matter is that the GOP representative actually makes a lot of sense. If Democrats were truly appalled by Omar’s commentary, they would take real action against her. Furthermore, it’s worth noting that if a Republican made a fraction of the anti-Semitic statements that Omar made, Democrats would be calling for a head on a platter.

In all honesty, the manner in which the left-wing is dealing with Omar after the remarks she’s made speaks volumes about their party and where they truly stand.
