House Rep. Ilhan Omar is in some very real trouble.
Yesterday, the Minnesota Campaign Finance and Public Disclosure Board determined that the congresswoman engaged in campaign finance violations, as documented by Fox News. Furthermore, the manner in which Omar managed her tax filings serves as an additional subject of interest.
Reviewing Omar’s Legal Woes
During Omar’s earlier political career, she used campaign money to fund her tax returns and also pay for travel outside of her work. Therefore, the Minnesota Campaign Finance and Public Disclosure Board ruled that the congresswoman is required to pay back the money in addition to a civil penalty of $500.
In the board’s own words:
“Rep. Omar must personally reimburse the Omar committee $3,469.23. This reimbursement payment is the total amount of campaign funds that were used for purposes not permitted by statute in 2016 and 2017. Rep. Omar must provide documentation within 30 days from the date of this order showing the deposit of the reimbursement into the Omar committee’s account.”

Thus far, Omar has not openly addressed her misconduct with campaign finances or taxes. How long that stays the case presently remains to be seen.
The Deafening Silence
The malpractice committed by Omar isn’t really shocking, but it does shed light on another aspect. The aspect in question just so happens to be the deafening silence of the mainstream media.
Seriously.
Where are all of the concerned leftists who care so much about clean, up-and-up political campaigns? Where is the moral outrage from Democrats? After all, Democrats have leaped at even the mere allegation of the president mismanaging his campaign. Where is the outrage towards Omar when her misconduct has been proven and called out? A person doesn’t wind up having to pay back thousands of dollars for campaign finance violations unless they did something very wrong.
Yet, the Democrats remain silent.
