Former National Football League (NFL) player Sergio Brown has mysteriously disappeared following the tragic death of his 73-year-old mother, Myrtle Brown.
The Maywood Police Department in Illinois is currently spearheading an intensive search for the ex-NFL star, whose whereabouts remain unknown.
Sergio Brown, who had an illustrious seven-year career in the NFL, played as a safety for teams such as the New England Patriots, Indianapolis Colts, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Buffalo Bills.

Myrtle Brown was found dead near her home in Maywood, Illinois, her life tragically cut short by what the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office has classified as a homicide.
The cause of death was reported as “multiple injuries due to assault.” The discovery of her body in a creek close to her residence sent shockwaves through the community, with neighbors expressing their horror at the unexpected tragedy.
Nick Brown, Sergio’s brother, took to Facebook to express his grief and gratitude for the outpouring of support from the community.
He wrote, “Thank you, everyone, for all of your outreach, help, love, and condolences. It’s a sad but hopeful time, and we will all get through this together.”
He also made a heartfelt plea for his missing brother, urging anyone with information about Sergio’s location to contact the Maywood Police Department.

The unsettling circumstances surrounding the incident have raised many questions. Carlos Cortez, a neighbor, revealed he last saw the mother and son on Thursday.
He shared police noticed something unusual on his doorbell camera footage – Sergio taking out the trash and having a bonfire where he burned clothes.
Cortez also mentioned family members expressed concerns about Sergio’s mental state in recent months, stating he “wasn’t himself” and seemed “out of his mind.”
The Maywood Police Department is working tirelessly to locate Sergio Brown and unravel the mystery surrounding this tragic incident.
