The Trump administration is currently facing a lawsuit from the father of Hoda Muthana. Muthana is the infamous “ISIS bride” who willingly abandoned her life as a college student in order to become a member of the Islamic State. Now, she wants back in, as documented by The Daily Caller News Foundation.
Reviewing the Lawsuit Against the Trump Administration
Muthana’s father maintains that his daughter is a citizen of the United States and has a right to come back to this country. However, not everyone agrees with him. Mike Pompeo, the Secretary of State, noted that Muthana does not qualify as a United States citizen since she is the child of a diplomat.
The compliant against the Trump administration reads as follows:
“Citizenship is a fundamental constitutional right, the most valuable right you will have. If it can be taken away, then it must be done with due process of law. Where citizenship is concerned, that’s a judicial hearing. There has to be a process. You can’t simply say it. You would have to prove it.”
At this time, the legitimacy of Muthana’s United States’ citizenship, or lack thereof, has yet to be determined. Whether or not her father was a diplomat at the time of Muthana’s birth could be a considerable factor.
As the lawsuit plays out, President Trump has weighed in with his take on Hoda Muthana.
I have instructed Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, and he fully agrees, not to allow Hoda Muthana back into the Country!
