On Monday, 2020 Democrat candidate Beto O’Rourke put forth a climate change proposal which would cost America five trillion dollars over a ten year time period; that breaks down to about two trillion each year.
To further add icing to the cake, O’Rourke made the outrageous claim that the Earth will end in ten years if climate change isn’t addressed, as documented by Fox News.
The Words of Beto O’Rourke
O’Rourke appeared on MSNBC yesterday to promote his wildly expensive proposal and share his thoughts on the supposed perils of climate change. As a previous backer of the oil and gas industry, O’Rourke also faced questions about whether or not that would serve as problematic in his current fight against climate change.
The 2020 presidential candidate noted the conflict of interest; however, he also maintained that the oil and gas industry could eventually join the fight against climate change.
In O’Rourke’s own words:
“I want to make sure those who work in the oil and gas industry, those who work in the fossil fuel industry are brought along as partners to make sure that we make this transition in the ten years we have left to us as the science and scientists tell us to make the kind of bold change that we need.”
He then continued by professing that climate change should not be a partisan issue:
“We cannot afford to alienate a significant part of this country and we cannot do this by half measure or by only half of us. It can’t be Democrats versus Republicans, bit cities versus small towns, we all have a shared interest in a cleaner future for this country. So I’m going to work with, listen to everyone anytime, anywhere to make sure that we advance this agenda and get to net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.”
The most outrageous thing of all is that O’Rourke sees nothing wrong with a climate change proposal that would cost five trillion dollars over ten years. Never mind that America is already trillions of dollars in debt…where would the trillions that O’Rourke wants to put towards climate change come from?
If you guessed the American taxpayer, then you’re spot on. Democrats always come out with these outrageous, costly proposals which would rob hardworking people of even more of their own money; right after doing this, Democrats turn around and claim that they want to rebuild the middle class. If Democrats truly wanted to rebuild the middle class, they’d get on board with lowering taxes instead of trying to increase them with insane, big government proposals.
