Chinese Spy Arrested in America

Government officials detained a citizen of the United States who’s alleged to have collaborated with the Chinese Communist Party to repress political opponents.

Chinese Spy Caught

Litang Liang, an inhabitant of Brighton near Boston, Massachusetts, has been charged with plotting to represent a foreign nation in court on Tuesday.

The U.S. District Court’s allegation said Litang Liang deliberately acted and encouraged others to carry out activities in the United States as an envoy of another nation, which is the People’s Republic of China.

He did this before giving advance notification to the United States Attorney General, according to requirements by law.

Liang is charged with commencing in or around 2018 to operate as a People’s Republic of China agent.

According to the U.S. District Court hearing the proceeding, Lian allegedly watched and provided reports on people and groups to the CCP.

He is also suspected of gathering data on prospective recruits and planning a counterprotest to American pro-democracy protestors.

The court stated in its accusation that Liang communicated with the PRC government authorities – understanding them to be PRC government authorities – in multiple ways.

These comprised messages and phone calls sent on WeChat, a social networking platform.  All WeChat communications are kept on servers located outside of the US.

In January 2019, Liang joined in the founding of the New England Alliance for the Peaceful Unification of China. Until at least 2021, he was the vice president of the group that supported the PRC and opposed Taiwanese autonomy.

Liang Pleads Not Guilty

Liang pleaded not guilty to the accusations of conspiring to serve as an agent of another nation and working as an agent of a foreign nation, according to Fox News Digital. He was released on a $25,000 cash bail.

Liang is not allowed to leave Massachusetts and will be under electronic surveillance. Additionally, he is forbidden from communicating with any representatives of the New England Alliance for the Peaceful Unification of China or the Chinese state.
