California Governor's Approval Rating Falls by 20%

Last year, California was the first state in the nation to go on lockdown in response to COVID-19. Gavin Newsom, the Democrat governor of California, has consistently taken heat for his chosen response towards the infamous virus.
Newsom infamously shut down businesses in his state for months on end, yet kept his own winery open. The California governor also implemented mask mandates and social distancing requirements, yet violated his own edicts to go have dinner with a group of lobbyists; Newsom would later apologize for this after photos of him at the indoor dinner with no masks or distancing appeared online.

To say that California residents aren’t happy would be a massive understatement. This is why the Democrat governor’s approval rating has dropped by double digits, confirms Breitbart News.

The Disgraced Governor of California

Berkeley Institute of Governmental Studies confirmed this week that only 46% of voters in California approve of Newsom’s response to COVID-19; this marks a significant fall from the 66% job approval rating that the Democrat governor enjoyed in September 2020.

Previously, only 28% of Californians believed that their governor was doing a poor job; now, that number has sharply risen to 43%. Likewise, approximately half of California residents once cited Newsom’s governorship as “good” or “excellent”; now, only just about 33% of Californians maintain this outlook.
Newsom’s breach of his own COVID-19 rules hasn’t done him any favors; however, residents of the Golden State also haven’t been pleased with the loss of electricity they experienced during 2020 heat waves.

Recall Newsom

As more Californians tire of Newsom’s leadership, the campaign to remove him from office is growing. Thus far, Golden State residents have reached nearly 80% of the 1.5 million required signatures. With March 17, 2021 as the deadline to obtain the aforementioned number of signatures, California residents are hard at work.

Some of the top motivating factors behind the Recall Newsom movement include surging homelessness rates, lockdowns of lawful citizens amid the release of prisoners, lack of affordable housing, and rising crime.
As things currently stand, there’s a very real possibility that Californians will successfully get their recall measure on the ballot. Already, Democrats and Republicans alike are leaping at the opportunities to run against Newsom.
