In recent years, members of the Democrat Party have decided to prioritize the interests of illegal aliens over Americans’ interests. This is not only tragic but also speaks to just how far the left has fallen.
Not too long ago existed a period where Democrats understood the importance of not allowing illegals to pour across the border at will. Obama talked about securing the borders, as did the likes of Hillary Clinton and others. However, when President Trump made illegal immigration a central issue of his 2016 campaign, Democrats prompted shifted gears and went all in for illegals.

The left’s backing of unlawful immigration couldn’t be more apparent with the current field of 2020 Democrats, namely South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg. On Sunday, Buttigieg gathered with progressives and claimed that illegal aliens are responsible for “subsidizing” Americans, according to reports from Breitbart News.
A Closer Look at Buttigieg’s Take on Illegal Aliens
Despite rising in certain polls, the South Bend mayor still has matters of concern regarding his presidential campaign. Buttigieg’s problem with attracting African-American support is proving to be quite the thorn in his side. Naturally, this is a matter which the 2020 Democrat feels compelled to remedy.
While speaking with progressive activists in North Carolina, Buttigieg attempted to boost his campaign by stating what he called an “uncomfortable truth.” This “uncomfortable truth” involved comparing illegal aliens to Social Security and professing that Americans like yourself are living off the dime of folks who unlawfully enter the country.
In Buttigieg’s attempt to cape for illegals, he missed some crucial facts. First and foremost, unlawful border crossers collectively consume way more in welfare and other government-subsidized programs than they contribute in taxes.
The numbers and data back this up, regardless of how much the South Bend mayor attempts to pander. Secondly, illegals take jobs from some of the poorest and neediest communities, thus creating an adverse ripple effect on the rest of the nation.
This is only the beginning of how illegal immigration hurts Americans; therefore, Buttigieg would do well to truly look at the facts before making blanket statements for the sake of getting support.
The Danger of Prioritizing Illegals Over Americans
Placing the interests of illegal aliens over American citizens is inherently wrong. Moreover, it puts the safety and security of the nation in harm, not to mention the lives and wellbeing of working people across this country.

The greatest irony of all is that illegal immigration is most dangerous for the very folks that Democrats profess to be fighting for. As such, Buttigieg would do well to reconsider his stance on illegal aliens and their true impact on people in this country.
