Former Vice President Joe Biden has officially announced his candidacy for the president of the United States, as documented by Fox News.
Biden’s announcement comes amidst prior speculation about whether he would run for office, coupled with controversy regarding his behavior with women and girls.
Reviewing Biden’s Entry into the Race
The former vice president announced his decision to run for office in a video posted online with the hashtag #Joe2020. Throughout the video, Biden stated that American values are “at stake,” citing this as his motivation to run for office.
It’s worth noting that Biden has attempted to become president two times prior. Neither attempt was successful, with him vying for the presidency in the 1988 and 2008 presidential elections.

The core values of this nation… our standing in the world… our very democracy…everything that has made America — America –is at stake. That’s why today I’m announcing my candidacy for President of the United States. #Joe2020 https://t.co/jzaQbyTEz3

The Reactions
Of course, news that the former vice president is attempting to run for office (yet again) prompted a series of reactions from Americans.
President Trump didn’t hesitate to share his thoughts about Biden’s entry into the race:

President Trump and Joe Biden have maintained a highly antagonistic relationship with one another. Biden has frequently gone after the president in public, even going as far to say that he would beat up Trump behind the bleachers if the pair were in high school.
Likewise, the president has his own grievances with Biden. Trump has regularly hit back when censured by Biden and noted the accusations of inappropriate touching which exist against the former vice president.
The 2020 Presidential Election
Biden is one of many Democrats who is hoping for the opportunity to take on President Trump in the general election. The former vice president is expected to engage in multiple upcoming press events as he campaigns to gather the support for the primary election.
Only time will tell which Democrats gets to face off against President Trump in the general election.
