Weeks ago, Joe Biden committed to selecting a female running mate.
Contrary to what Democrats have led themselves to believe, Biden’s commitment to selecting a woman as his vice president is merely a political strategy; the former vice president wants to increase his support among female voters and have greater ammunition to attack Trump as sexist.
Since vowing to compete against Trump with a female running mate, Biden has prompted speculations about which woman he will choose.
Names like Kamala Harris, Amy Klobuchar, and even Stacey Abrams have come up. However, on Monday, Biden claimed that he’d select Michelle Obama “in a heartbeat” if she were interested in being his running mate, reports The Daily Caller News Foundation.
Biden on the Idea of Running with Obama
During an interview with CBS News, the former vice president stated that the former First Lady is “brilliant” and he’d have her on the ticket “in a heartbeat.” Shortly before stating that he’s great friends with the Obama family, Biden praised Obama as a “very fine woman.”

Despite his praise, Biden stated that he doesn’t believe the former First Lady is interested in the position or living near the White House. Biden’s glowing words about Obama come shortly after a presidential endorsement from her husband; the 44th president stated in a video that Biden has “all the qualities” that a commander-in-chief should possess.
Who Will Biden Select as His Running Mate?
At this time, the former vice president has not selected a running mate. Only time will determine whether he selects Harris, Klobuchar, Abrams, or someone else.

Right now, Biden is continuing to conduct media interviews via streaming from his home in Delaware. Much of the 2020 presidential election has been put on pause due to fighting the spread of coronavirus.
