Former Democrat frontrunner Joe Biden is in serious trouble. Just this week, Biden suffered a 13 point drop in a recent Monmouth University survey. The significant decline comes after multiple gaffes from the candidate and after Jill Biden urged Democrats to “swallow a little bit” and throw their support behind Biden. The former frontrunner is now at 19%, putting him 1 point behind Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren, candidates which Biden was previously leading.
In light of Biden’s struggling campaign, his staffers are now doing everything they can to save the sinking ship. Not only have Biden’s workers dismissed the Monmouth University findings, but they’ve furthermore attempted to make light of the candidate’s countless, embarrassing blunders.
On Tuesday, Kate Bedingfield, the deputy campaign manager and communications director of Biden’s campaign asserted that the former frontrunner’s gaffes are “part of his charm,” as noted by Fox News.
Nobody with half a brain is falling for such a poor narrative.
The Attempt to Explain Away the Biden Gaffe Machine
Nobody can deny that Biden is a horrifically cringe-worthy gaffe machine. The former vice president has misspoken so many times that it’s hard not to wonder if he’s doing it intentionally. Biden’s blunders include, but are not restricted to, confusing cities and states, forgetting the time period of his vice presidential service, conflating poverty with race, and mistaking the names of world leaders.
The former vice president’s blunders have a tendency to happen later in the day; some people have even speculated that Biden’s age of 76 could be playing a role in his inability to keep his foot out of his mouth.
Nevertheless, when speaking about her employer’s plethora of blunders, Bedingfield attempted to pass the buck, blame the media, and claim that Biden is being “charming” by constantly misspeaking.
In Bedingfield’s own words:
“I think the press has to be more careful about applying an unfair standard to Joe Biden than they’re applying to other candidates. Everybody’s going to slip up and misstate a name or a date or a location. It happens all the time. People know who he is. They know this is a part of his charm. They understand that, you know, they’re getting it straight from him. It’s not overly packaged. He’s always speaking from his heart.”
She later wrapped up this montage of lies by claiming that other 2020 candidates “misstate” critical details “almost every single day.”
A Poor Defense
Bedingfield’s defense of Biden consisted of flagrantly untrue statements. Other Democrats’ policies are just as awful as the former frontrunner’s, but they’re not constantly making one gaffe after the other. The idea that the media somehow has it in for Biden is absolutely ridiculous.
Now, we all know that Bedingfield has to do her job and defend her boss in public, but let’s call a spade a spade: Biden is a horrific gaffe machine. His gaffes cost him his position as the frontrunner of the Democrat Party. Finally, if Biden still somehow manages to weasel his way into winning the Democrat nomination, it will be an easy, slam-dunk victory for President Trump in the general election.
