Far-left Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez believes Mayor Eric Adams threw out the budget just recently when he rightfully approved wages for officers under City Hall’s latest arrangement with the main law enforcement union in New York City.
This is following the law enforcement department going seven years without an increase in salary.
AOC Against Police
Jordan Klepper of The Daily Show raised questions, stating this is New York City. While trying to support violence prevention outside of the police force by raising that budget, the police have also now received salary increases. He asked if this is out of place.
In response, the politician walking around the Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx said he felt this was the case.
Ocasio-Cortez continued, praising Jacobi’s “Stand Up to Violence” initiative, whereby shootings are under investigation by social service agencies with no participation of law enforcement.
She claimed they are currently at a stage where the majority of officers get paid more than an educator with a master’s degree, while helping the very children engaged in these same shootings.

The 33-year-old said they are cutting funding for safety, cutting funding for public education institutions, cutting funding for public swimming pools, protecting the parks, and reducing funds for libraries.
AOC condemned the raises Eric Adams gave the NYPD. Because she’s all for a “livable wage,” except when it comes to cops.

She went on to say this sends a very clear message about the priorities when the funds for every department are slashed, except for the “militarized one.”
Hours after a uniformed NYPD female officer was assaulted and hit in her head by a bottle-wielding perpetrator with 11 prior offenses, he informed police that God instructed him to attack the female officer, officials told The Washington Post.

Fair Pay For Officers
The Police Benevolent Association’s proposed eight-year deal is retroactive to the beginning of 2017, when officers last had a new contract in place. Along with to a 3.5% increase this August and a 4% boost in 2024, it gives officers back pay.
