As a response to riots on Capitol Hill this past Wednesday, many White House aides turned in their resignations. Staffers who left their posts cited the breach into the U.S. Capitol as the reason; others blamed the 45th president for what happened or stated that they no longer felt comfortable working for President Trump.
Some aides who quit also warned that others would soon follow. This prediction is one that has proven to be accurate.
According to Breitbart News, acting Department of Homeland Security secretary Chad Wolf turned in his resignation letter on Monday.
A Closer Look at the Acting DHS Secretary’s Resignation
In Wolf’s resignation letter, he disclosed that “recent events” (presumably at the U.S. Capitol) and “meritless court rulings” about his power as the acting DHS secretary are the driving forces behind his resignation.
The now-former acting DHS secretary additionally pointed out that the aforementioned matters “divert attention and resources” from the necessary work for a White House power transition. Wolf’s decision to leave his post went immediately into effect on Monday evening.

Wolf is part of a growing list of aides to leave their posts in the wake of January 6’s events. Betsy DeVos, the now-former education secretary, and Elaine Chao, the now-former transportation secretary, along with others, called it quits after last Wednesday.
Wolf’s Message to President Trump
After the descent upon Capitol Hill, Wolf urged President Trump to “strongly condemn” these events. The then-acting DHS secretary described the events on the 6th as “unacceptable” and “unconscionable” as well.
In another segment of his statement, Wolf furthermore confirmed that the Department of Homeland Security takes seriously Americans’ safety. Like many politicians on both sides of the aisle, Wolf moreover called for responsible parties in Wednesday’s riots to be properly held accountable.

The 45th president has condemned the actions on Capitol Hill last week as many implored him to do. Trump stated that individuals who rioted in the Capitol, stormed the premises, and broke into lawmakers’ offices will face accountability.
Since the events six days ago, law enforcement groups have already made multiple arrests.
